About St Kilda Life Saving Club
Part of the St Kilda beach community since 1914 - and open to everyone who wants to be part of the club today.
St Kilda Life Saving Club has been part of the St Kilda foreshore for generations. Since 1914, it has been shaped by volunteers, families and lifesavers who have all contributed to making the beach safer and more connected.
Today, the club welcomes people of all stages of life and all levels of experience. Some are trained lifesavers, some are families discovering the beach together, some are volunteers who help where they can, some contribute behind the scenes, and many join socially and find their place over time.
What brings everyone together is not a single role, but a shared experience of being part of the same place and community.
When people join the club, they are not just joining an activity, they are stepping into a community built on connection. That happens in many ways: in the water during training or patrol, on the sand during Nippers or beach days, around the clubhouse at social events, and across the wider St Kilda community through shared involvement and friendships.
Together, these different pathways and contributions are what make the club stronger. Not as individuals doing the same thing, but as a community doing many different things side by side.
