Our Friday night Nippers program teaches children essential beach safety skills while having fun on the beach!
Nippers introduces children, 5-13 years old to teamwork, surf skills, and confidence in a safe and inclusive environment.

How it works
Prerequisites
All Members 18+ are required to hold a current Working With Children Check, connected to St. Kilda Life Saving Club and Life Saving Victoria.
To ensure a safe environment for all, adult memberships cannot be processed without a Working With Children Check (WWCC). If you’re over 18 and would like to patrol or participate as an Age Group Manager, you must hold a valid WWCC.
It’s quick, free and easy to apply online, taking only about 15 minutes to complete.
Nippers is open to children of all abilities aged 5 to 13, with no prior experience needed. Our family friendly sessions are Fridays between 5:00 to 6:30pm and start 14 November 2025 until 20 March 2026 at St. Kilda Beach in front of our beloved Clubhouse. Led by experienced instructors who provide all the necessary equipment. It’s a fun, safe, and structured way for children to learn beach safety, build confidence, and enjoy the ocean.

We involve our parents as well! Our Age Group Managers are parents who love supporting their children while being part of the action.

Nipper's membership
Nippers is a family-first membership! Children cannot enrol individually; they must join as part of a family membership. This option lets the whole family get involved in club events, access facilities, and enjoy discounted function room hire.
Family Membership + Nipper Registration Fee
Includes:
- Family membership $100
- Participation fees $75 (per child)
- Nipper uniform includes an age cap & rashie $50
Note: Fees are annual, covering the season from November to June.
Our memberships run on a financial year from July 1 to June 30, so renewals are due each October.
